Date: Saturday, May 30, 2020. Swimmers and kayakers will be transported on commercial boats, from Point Lookout State Park
at 6:30am to the swim start at Hull Neck, Virginia for a 8:00am official start. (Participants must report to Point Lookout Marina at 6:00am for loading.)
Location: on the Potomac River (where it meets the
Chesapeake Bay) starting at Hull Neck, Virginia and
finishing at
Point Lookout State Park, Maryland.
Course: 7.5 mile crossing of the mouth of the Potomac River
where it meets the Chesapeake Bay and divides Virginia's Northern
Neck from Saint Mary's County, MD.
Boat Support: Each accepted applicant will be accompanied on this swim
by one kayak. Boston whalers and public
safety vessels will provide support along the route.
Registration and Pre-Swim Supper: On Friday, May 29, 2020,
there will be a 6:30PM complimentary pre-swim registration, supper and meeting at
which swimmer attendance is required and pledge
money (from swimmers) must be turned in, at Trinity Parish Hall in St. Mary's City, Maryland. All swim participants and volunteers are welcome to attend. At this dinner, kayakers will meet their assigned swimmer.
Race Day Lunch: On Saturday, May 30, 2020, there
will be a post-swim picnic celebration.
Fees & Application Process (for swimmers): All applicants (swimmers) will receive an acceptance, regret,
or standy-by status message as promptly as possible. Total fees required from each swimmer are:
Checks made out to: Potomac River Swim (all fees are tax-deductible).
Included: Participants will receive supper,
picnic lunch, awards, and a t-shirt. Kayakers receive 2 free nights' camping at Point Lookout Park, pre-swim supper, post-swim luncheon, and a t-shirt.
